Gorepete's Big Thread of Everything

Postby Gorepete » Mon Feb 25, 2013 3:45 pm

Dearest Forums,

I got bored working on Malicia, so I thought about it, and after 3 years this has become more "workish" than "funish". So I quit! Out of the business! In the spirit of the forums and the great people like Playshapes who came before me, here are the original FLAs for everything I have done. Use, enjoy, torture people with hardmodes.

METROID: DNA HUNTERS - This was a new samus game I was working on. Really, it is very close to being "done", I just never put any sex animations in. There are 8 enemies from the series as well as samus herself. The game has a suit toggle / dna system like the old game except now it is a tug of war between the X-Parasites and the Metroid. There is a small plot intro that explains it. The jumping is buggy with some hit conflicts. The game is set up to hold 6 sex animations per enemy depending on Samus' current DNA side, who engaged, and from what side.

Peril on Pokemorph Island - This was an old demo I put together for Eggplants a looooooong time ago. Not much to say, you have seen these sprites before. It is a pretty straight forward move around with various abilities depending on the characters current form.

Dusty's Castle - Self explanatory!

Kingdom Hearts: Light's Darkness - My old unfinished KH game. I was trying a new combat system out when making it, and liked it so much that I made Sakyu! This was my first rough try at this type of design, but it is still pretty fun to run around and blow up shadows.

PsyGarde - A proof of concept for a puzzle game I thought about making. Just a basic tutorial, never got around to making the actual game. Shocking for this forum, I know!

Sakyubasu no Tatakai II - Ah Sakyu! Here is the second part with better mechanics and the partial war sim. I suppose I should also spoil the rest of the plot for anyone who was interested in it.
Remaining story in a nutshell:
Spoiler (click to show/hide):

Where to begin? So after part one, Eva now has Beezy under her control and a working army. Pecunia has sold a super weapon to Irania, the newly appointed Overlord, who intends to just blow Eva off the face of the netherworld.

The game starts with Pecunia telling Irania that it will take about a week to get up and running, she then goes to Eva and tells her that Irania has stolen a super weapon and it will be operational in three days; the control will be from the top of Vanorel's tower, the highest point in the netherworld. Vanorel is another sibling, the embodiment of Vanity. Of course Pecunia suggests she attacks immediately, although Eva is reluctant to rush the hive into combat so soon. She decides to march on Vanorel with Beezy and the majority of the hive, and leaves defense in the hands of Bridgette. Beezy's army cuts through Vanorel's defenses and Eva is able to approach her tower. Vanorel is a powerful illusionist and her tower is surrounded by mists that seem to be a maze with no end. Eva eventually figures out how to make her way through the illusion and confronts her sister. Vanorel employs a series of mirrors which make copies of Eva, who must be defeated before Vanorel becomes vulnerable to attack, however, when the images sustain damage, Eva does as well. Eva overcomes her sister and forces her allegiance. End Chapter 4.

This was all, however, a diversion to pull Eva away from the hive. Irania took advantage of her departure to send Sonora and Vinas, the embodiments of Sloth and Gluttony, to strike at the hive and cripple what little army she had managed to pull together. Pecunia informs Eva of this betrayal, and Eva, Beezy, Vanorel and the remaining armies rush back to save the Hive from her sisters' onslaught. Although vastly outnumbered, Bridgette, backed by the Brood Mother, manage to delay the Hive's destruction long enough for Eva and the reinforcements to arrive. Sonora retreats when they arrive, however, Vinas remains behind, using her ability to influence Eva's army into a torpid state making them unable to follow. However, Vanorel is able to trick Vinas into believing she is safe, when she is really trapped and confronted by Eva and Beezy. Vinas is easily overpowered and falls to Eva's influence. End Chapter 5.

Pecunia arrives to tell Eva that now is the time to strike directly at Irania, however, Vanorel reveals that it was Pecunia who created the super weapon in the first place and that she has been playing both sides the entire time. Pecunia is noticable sour that her plans have been uprooted and creates a portal that she escapes through. Enraged, Eva and Tiki rush through the portal to pursue her. They end up being dumped out in an underground laboratory and find Pecunia there. Pecunia tells Eva that she was never really worthy of leading because her passion leads to poor decision making, such as leaping through a portal and separating herself from her forces. Eva comments that she is more than enough for Pecunia one on one, and Pecunia notes that it is really one on two. Looking around, Eva and Tiki notice that the lab is filled with various specimens resembling Tiki but with various deformities. Pecunia asks Eva if she really thought it was just a lucky coincidence that she found a Dream Eater, the one thing that could restore her power, on the island where she was exiled. She continues that after the first war, she realized that Eva's one true weakness was her dependance on others for power, so Pecunia had to ensure that she would control that dependance the second time around. Tiki immediately calls Pecunia a liar and says she has no idea what she is talking about, at which point Pecunia uses a command phrase and Tiki's expression goes blank. She then siphons all of Eva's abilities and transfers them to Pecunia. Empowered, Pecunia engages Eva who has little chance of survival. Seeing Eva being brutally beaten, Tiki's personality core begins to over-ride her programming and she is able to slowly restore Eva's power, much to Pecunia's dismay. Eva overcomes her treacherous sister and forces her allegiance. She then makes Pecunia erase the latest portion of Tiki's memory, so that only the two of them will know what happened in the lab. End Chapter 6. End Part II.

Part 3 begins with the anti-climactic battle between Eva and Sonora. After Eva's disappearance, Bridgette and the others tracked Sonora down and cornered her short of the Overlord's castle. Upon her return, Eva prepared for a death-defying battle, however, Sonora said it really wasn't worth the effort and succumbed to her sister without resistance. With their full army's, the 6 sisters marched on the Overlord's castle to convert Irania and end Eva's campaign. Although greatly outnumbered, being a master tactician and embodiment of Wrath, Irania and her forces were easily able to match the combined power of her sister's. Confronted with the possibility of a long siege and loss from attrition, Eva realized something more subtle would be needed. She had Vanorel cast a grand illusion over the battlefield, convincing Irania that Eva had been routed and lay dying, abandoned on the field. In truth, Eva used Pecunia's stealth technology to enter the castle and confront her final sister. Irania mocked Eva and asked her if she came to reclaim her true power, pointing to wall hanging, which was Eva's wings mounted in trophy form. Irania was more than a match for Eva in single combat and held her, beaten, over the top of the castle's parapets. However, her moment of triumph turned sour when it was revealed she had been fighting Beezy under illusion, who was just luring her away from the trophy. Eva appeared behind her, in full form complete, and brought her final sister to her knees. End Chapter 7.

With all of her sisters and the majority of the netherworld under her control, the coronation ceremony begins, presided by Bridgette as a representative of The Divine. However, the sky darkens and the ceremony is interrupted by Eva's Father, who had faked his own death. He then channels dark energy into Bridgette, who is revealed to be a shard of Araphel and the embodiment of self-sacrifice. Eva's father reveals his plot: he brought about the first war in the hopes that when the siblings destroyed each other they would absorb each other's power and the final sibling would be transformed, bringing Azeral, the demon queen, back to life. This was thwarted, though, when Eva won because she didn't kill her sisters but turned them to her side. This is why he broke her control and banished her until he could find another way. Over the 1000 years, he realized that the only way to bring back Azeral would be to bind the sisters together with a fragment of the power that broke them apart. He knew that the only way to ensure multiple agents of the Divine would enter the netherworld would be if he was assumed dead and the land fell into chaos. Gloating, he states that he set into effect the entire series of events. As his spell completes, Bridgette is consumed by darkness and Eva and her sisters' souls are pulled into the vortex as their bodies collapse lifeless to the ground. Azeral is reborn, and the Overlord welcomes back his Queen. Seeing the death of her master and all those she cared about, Tiki begins to scream in denial. The king and queen laugh at the little being, not knowing her true nature. In her emotional rage, Tiki begins to overload her power core, bypassing safety protocals and screams "give her back" before turning into a blazing ball of energy and hurtling towards Azeral.

Part physical, part ethereal, all rage and energy, Tiki pierces Azeral through the chest and pulls the spirit of Eva back out of her mother. Azeral screams in agony and begins to destabilize. The overlord, not wanting to lose his love again, merges with her to prevent her from falling apart. Eva's soul returned to her body, and she comes to in time to see that Tiki had saved her. Before she can thank her friend, Tiki's core overloads and in a tiny burst of pink light, she dies. Realizing that she has lost the one being in the entire universe that truly loved her, Eva turns to Azeral and tells her that she is going to rip out her sisters one by one. The final battle begins and Eva is able to turn Azeral's vortex ability against her, slowly bringing out each of her sisters who then join her in the battle. When all 6 are released, Bridgette collapses to the ground still possessed by the overlord. At that moment, bright light fills the throne room and agents of The Divine surround Bridgette. One reveals that all of this was known and written and Bridgette volunteered to sacrifice herself as a prison for the overlord. With that, they take Bridgette and depart. Stunned and exhausted, Eva drops to the ground, surrounded by her sisters. Irania presents her with the crown, stating that she had earned it twice now. Eva takes the crown and becomes the new Queen. She establishes a royal council with her sisters, giving them each dominion over part of the netherworld. Pecunia becomes minister of trade, Irania becomes minister of war, Beezy becomes minister of internal affairs, etc etc. Under new leadership, the demon realm forges the Pact of Souls with the angelic realm, which delegates wicked souls to the netherworld and good souls to the divine. With peace restored, her father sealed, and a new purpose for her people, the story ends.

Malicia! Dark Heroine! - This was me wanting to play around with a classic RPG style using more algorithmic design and characters. The entire thing is two frames, but the content expands much larger. Was fun at first, but grew kind of tedious after a while. FLA is at the bottom, attached some animations that aren't in the game's thread itself.

Well, I guess that's it! If the urge strikes me again I might make something sometime down the road, but for all intents and purposes, consider me retired!

It has been a fun 3 years,

And another one bites the dust, it seems. Many good animators and coders are leaving us, or just disappear without any news (like Corta).
I wonder, will you stay around the forums? And will you continue your moderator work?
And considering that you aren't willing to work on a whole game yourself, maybe you can help some others out with their games? Giving them tips, pieces of code, art or animations.

(People might not like seeing me asking this everywhere, but I (and Ivan and many others as well) would love seeing your work on MiM PUT, if possible. Consider taking a lesser role, at least. We'd hate to see you go.)

I'll still be around... just not working on anything. If you need animations done you can always shoot me a PM and we might be able to work something out.

Alright. I'll let Ivan know too. We could surely use a hand with the game.

As a fan of your work (like the rest of the 99.99 percent of the LoK Forums community), I dislike seeing you and your art-style vanish out of direct flash animation works, we all have issues in RL and virtual life; I understand how you feel, more of a burden than a hobby. Nonetheless, I do have one question, will you license your works on an attribution share-alike license? What I mean is that in a few years from now, we might have spin-off games and animators that will not know a shit of whom Gorepete is, since your works might go through many different copies and editions (sort of like a virus changing with each new infection) that do not reference yourself (you probably know this type of unintentional poaching). Are your works published under a license (such as Creative Commons licenses like this), or are they public domain? A bit confusing, I know...

I'm also a guy who becomes sad seeing talented people like you going away :/
For sure newer people will never get close to the golden moments of your work on LOK.
I hope thats temporary, and I hope flash programming continue to be a dark challenge moment of pleasure and creativity.

Even though the Creative Corner wasn't really my "place", it's still sad for me to hear that you'll no longer be producing content. However, given the amount of impressive content you've produced, you'll certainly have quite the legacy. I'm sure everyone will appreciate whatever you end up doing in the future, though, even if you're no longer producing games.
Pointed at my head, it's raw with no edit, so I guess the joke's on me... do you get it?

it sucks that your leaving I have really enjoyed your work and was looking forward to Sakyubasu no Tatakai II but I do understand that if you are not motivated to make any more games your should not it is probably be for the best because if you did continue it might not be as good quality as your previous work just because you don't want to do it and maybe some time in the future you might want to pick up where you left of and enjoy it again. so I wish you well in the future and hope you find something you enjoy to do again.

It is not bat that there are more "workish" than finished projects  Some times even very old forgotten project becomes some thing complicated ;)
And even some algoritms on pascal becomes some thing that helps us on AS3 now
And even if they do not - they give us more exp. to make better things in future ;)

I hope that you just take a little brake - make some thing always takes a lot of time and free time too. And unfortunatly we do not have time some times that we need. You make really very big projects it really takes a lot of time for it. So i think that people understand it ;)

By the way to make some thing really big is impossible alone ;) - but even though - you make 2 complicated big games like Dusty Castle and Sakyubasu no Tatakai.

Even LoK game is not finished ;)

By the way if i understand it right you will stay with us ? ;) If so it is very good.
May be some day you will have inspiration to make some thing new ;) it always comes unexpectedly ;)
It is always hard to make along with some big projects becouse it takes too much time. So may be it will be some short projects ;)
But even if it do not we always will be glad to see you in topics there ;)

Thank you for your work.

And about Corta yes it is really very lamentably that Corta do not show on forums. I hope he is fine by the way. Becouse it is really strange that he dissapear so unexpectedly.
